Hi JediMaster - It's not "the truth". Deep down you know that, that's why you're here. You just have to process it all. Which takes a while and is hard.
Nice to meet you.

i've really enjoyed reading the threads and getting familiar with some of you.
a little bit about myself, born and raised in the truth.

here is my dilemma.....i am the type of person that gets upset when things are unjust and people act unfair towards me or my family.
but here is the problem.
as you know, we have been da and my husband's ex-wife (who was just reinstated) and his family (who live in the same apt bldg we do) cannot stand me.
It's not necessarily being the bigger person or better christian because something affects you in a different way than someone else. You're just more sensitive to bad behavior. The problem is that you get upset and it ruins your day. You have to find a better way to cope. If you can't alter your reactions to your mother, you'll have to limit contact until you find a better way to respond. My mother and I have a severely strained relationship. So I understand how you feel.

to be entitled "offering the bible - what is its message?".
possibly a tract or brochure - haven't had any other details yet.
maybe they are even going to offer the bible (now that would be a novelty!).
Those campaigns are sooooooooooooooo stupid!
the first dc here in the us concluded today (sunday) in nyc (queens assembly hall, i think).
anyone go or here anything about it?
there was supposed to be a new brochure about creation released and i'm curious....
It's still pretty early. The scans and news should start pouring in next month.
the only reason i have not da'd is because my mom asked me not to.
i fully expect her funeral to be the last time i set foot in a kingdom hall (assuming i can't manage to convince enough of the family to do a secular funeral).
i will thereafter become an active and aggressive member of the "vast apostate army.".
Naw, my grandmother died in 07 and my grandfather died in 08. The next generation in my family is in their early 60s so I don't expect any deaths anytime soon.
But I know what you mean.
i wanted to say hello.
i knew i was gay.
i wanted to study and learn about everything i could.
Hey Alex, You're the same age as me and hubby. Welcome!
I enjoyed reading your story and glad you're with us. Look forward to reading more from you.
the vast majority have been sucked into the witchtower babble and trash cult over the last 25 years.. this constant rehashing and contradicting of the "generation " teaching is bound to drive significant numbers of the pre 1985 -"ish" witlesses away from the kingdumb hells, much as "1925" drove away vast numbers who might yet undermine "jug" rutherfords efforts to secure his power.. they will then be able to make major revisions of what to us older ones seem like core doctrines, which will be lapped up like iced cream by those who only have the perspective of the 21 century litterature.. this is too obviously deliberate.
its not like some tiny side comment:.
when the gibbering buddy wants some embarrassing thing to go away, blondie has pointed out many examples, they stop talking about it.. with this change they are rubbing peoples noses in it, slapping them round the head so they dont miss it.. and who are "gasping" at the co talks?
They have the old timers right where they want them anyway. Most don't want to make drastic changes in their life. Old timers who wake up and value their life usually get a clue, cut their losses and make a move right out the door. (run on sentence there....lol)

"Oh they changed the definition of generation again? That's nice. Say, I wonder where we can eat after the meeting?"
sir82 - That's funny. You got it though. As many have said, most witnesses don't give a hoot about doctrinal changes. They are in it for the social aspects. The ones who care about the teachings and doctrines eventually leave or resign themselves to life in the lying borg.

i was disfellowshipped when i was 16 for playing sports, girlfriend, high school parties, etc.
basically the normal stuff 16 yr olds do.
i was booted out of the house and bounced around to various family (all non-jw) until i went to college.
G&A - WELCOME. I'm sorry to hear that your family is not treating you as they should.
one of the great lessons this board gave me is the cruelty of shunning by the jehovah's witnesses.
it is inhuman.
the toll it takes on a person cannot be underestimated.
"Loneliness is a feeling of not being part of anything, of being cut off"
jgnat - that was a touching quote and gave me perspective on how I've been feeling since leaving the borg. that pretty much sums up the depth of my emotions right now.
